Cowboy Reid

It is still in the 90s here. No fall for us yet.
We did have a couple of nice days last week...
not too humid and probably in the 80s.
Still, Reid needs some fallish clothes that are not too warm.

The Jon Jon is Michie's pattern #137 again!
Definitely getting my money's worth on that pattern!

Last year I saw a little outfit online with a similar applique'.
I printed out a picture of it and made my own pattern.

The Jon Jon is lined in bandana fabric.
I decided for cooler days he might need a shirt underneath,
thus the bandana shirt.

I got the boot and bandana fabric at Quilt 'n' Sew here in Katy.
I wanted a high quality cotton so that the red wouldn't fade.
Fingers crossed.
I used Michie's Diaper Shirt and Shorts pattern #118 for the shirt,
and cut the sides straight down rather than flared out.

Reid wore the Jon Jon today without the shirt.
Here's our little cowboy!

It's getting harder to get a good picture of this little guy.
He is so busy!

Black and Red Jon Jon

As I mentioned, we don't usually have fall weather in Katy.
We may have a few really pretty days, but it is typically not cool outside.
Because of that, the usual fall clothes don't work here in October and November.
This is a Jon Jon that I made for fall.

I got the applique' idea off of a brown and tan outfit I saw at a store online last year.
I made my own applique' pattern.
I don't think it's illegal to copy an applique' unless you are selling the clothing.
If I knew the rules for sure, I would attach the applique' pattern.
I changed the colors on my outfit, and added the bone.

I've been adding pockets to the back of some of Reid's Jon Jons to give them a little pizazz.

A boy never knows when he might need some dog bones!

Once again, the pattern is Creations by Michie', pattern # 137, Jon Jon.
The pattern sews up so quickly that it is one of my favorites.

I don't have a picture of Reid wearing this yet, but when I do, I will post it!

Ring Day

On Friday, our son got his Aggie ring.
It was a very special day for our family.

My husband and I graduated from A&M in the Class of '80.

Daughter #1, Brittany, and her husband, Chris, are Class of '05.
Daughter #2, Allison, is Class of '09.
Our son, Thomas, is in the Class of '12. He is our baby.

All 3 of our children (and their parents! and our son-in-law!)
will have degrees from A&M when Thomas graduates.

Baby Reid will be in the Class of '33. Whoop!
He is so proud of his Uncle Thomas.

The A&M Jon Jon that I posted 2 posts ago is reversible!

Reid can wear the football side, or this side,
when the occasion is something other than football!

Reid had such a fun time running around Aggieland!

Pumpkins for Sale!

Don't you love fall?
Are you working on some fall clothes for your little ones?
Reid's outfit is all ready for this year's visit to the pumpkin patch!
My friend of 22 years, Dana, teaches with me. We played hookie one day last year
and went to the pumpkin patch with our daughters and our grandbabies.
We had so much fun that it will be a tradition now!
In a few weeks I will post pictures of our great pumpkin adventure.
For now, I thought you might like to see the outfit!

I used Creations by Michie's Jon Jon pattern,
and the plate is Pumpkins for Sale, by Little Memories.

It doesn't feel like fall around here yet, but here's hopin'!

A little lavendar...

I do love lavendar.
This is one of the first dresses I made
when I started smocking again a couple of years ago.

I used Chery Williams' bishop pattern and lavendar broadcloth.
I don't know which plate I used.
I was looking through my plates and can't find one exactly like this.
Sometimes I start one plate and change my mind in the middle!
It is a pretty simple design though, so if you are a smocker, you could copy it.

The sleeve...

It's hard to match DMC floss to lavendar Imperial broadcloth and batiste.
It's like they need to add a few shades of lavendar.
I never find exactly what I want!
I would really like a lighter lavendar rather than purple.
Maybe I should investigate other brands of floss!

If you are making pretty things, send me pictures! :)

Gig 'em!

I know in many parts of the country, football season brings cooler weather.
In Katy, Texas, it is still 100 degrees outside!
I made the littlest Aggie in our family a Jon Jon to wear on our football game days!
Reid wouldn't smile because it was nap time.
That's Jack peeking out the doggie door!

I used Creations By Michie', Pattern # 137, Jon Jon,
and I drew the applique design.

If we happen to have a cold spell he can wear a shirt under it.
I got this great shirt/onesie from Connie's Kids online. Here is the link!
I like this because it won't come untucked or get all bunched up under the Jon Jon.
For those who aren't Texans, ATM does not stand for the cash machine!
It stands for Texas A&M University!

Reid will look cute coming AND going with his little Gig'em pocket on the back!

We are all ready for today's game!

Here's hopin' that our Aggies have a good season.
It's our first year in the SEC and we will most likely
get our rears kicked , at least some of the time.
New coaching staff...freshman quarterback...
But we love our Aggies win or lose.

I hope whoever YOU cheer for has a great season!

and GIG 'EM!
