Yellow Yoke Dress

I started this little dress about a year ago!
I finished the smocking back then, and started the embroidery, and got sidetracked!
So...over the holidays, this is the last project I finished.
Now my half-finished drawer is empty. I think. :)

I love light yellow on little ones. I just think it's such a sweet color.
The pattern I used is Creations by Michie', Classic Dress, #131.

The first time I use any pattern, it seems like I make a few mistakes.
If I had a do-over, I would raise up the smocked part when sewing it to the yoke
so that the yoke met the trellis stitches, AND I might smock one less row.
I made a 6 month size, so it could use a little less smocking
since the yoke is embroidered. It's fine though. :) Next time I'll know!

The embroidery design on the yoke is in Jeanie B's Book of Heirloom Embroidery.

Have a wonderful week,
and
Happy Sewing!

  1. I just found your blog, and I'm so glad I did. You did a beautiful job smocking. I love little ones in yellow also. When my daughter was a baby she had very little hair until she was about a year old and people were always asking if she was a boy because I dressed her in yellow most of the time because yellow looked so good on her.
